then signed hinckley united in july 1997 left hinckley in august 1998 due work commitments. moved on atherstone united, suffered potentially career-ending broken ankle while playing atherstone in april 1999. honoured in benefit game in august 1999. returned light training in october 1999, , in third game after injury, helped nuneaton sunday league side lancet win tribune cup in may 2000. returned play atherstone , @ end of 2001–01 season won 5 awards @ club s presentation night, including supporters , players player of year awards. in april 2002, given commemorative plate before first whistle of match against chippenham town mark 100th consecutive appearance atherstone, , named club s player of year in may 2002. atherstone went liquidation in 2003 , belford left join gresley rovers.

belford joined gresley rovers in september 2003, , voted club s players player of year @ end of 2003–04 season. missed 4 months of 2004–05 season due injury suffered in october 2004. rejoined hinckley united on loan in february 2005 second spell cub.

belford moved on steps of coaching role when rejoined sutton coldfield town in may 2005 player-goalkeeping coach.
returning tamworth again
at start of 2006–07 season, belford re-joined tamworth third spell occupying same role player-goalkeeping coach. , club captain adie smith took charge of first-team following departure of manager mark cooper , assistant- manager richard dryden in january 2007.
