phyllis dobbs

wpc phyllis dobbs (noreen kershaw) station desk sergeant/custody officer, supervising holding cells , mentoring wpc annie cartwright. character forms friendship cartwright. phyllis regarded other characters 1 of lads , , socialises them in pub after work male domain . in time of social upheaval , women being treated inferiors men, phyllis s no-nonsense attitude earns respect male fraternity because know that, whatever rank are, won t tolerate disrespect. encourages sam act on feelings toward annie.

dicky fingers

richard dicky fingers hands (steve evets) appeared in episode 2 of second series , introduced when chris, ray , sam sent escort him prison manchester questioning. during transfer forced off of road , held @ gunpoint while gunmen kidnap dicky. later transpires rescue organised corrupt police officer harry woolf.

terry haslam

terry haslam boxing manager has history gene hunt. beat retired boxer davie mackie , blackmailed hunt not report it. however, hunt did report , took haslam. haslam found innocent , gene threatened kill him. next day haslam found dead , revealed had bet on davie mackie s last boxing match, telling davie throw fight. davie resisted, killing haslam.

leslie johns

leslie johns (sean gilder) miner , infamous cop killer. organises robbery of train group of miners unaware gene undercover 1 of miners. robbery seems going smoothly (johns unaware train s staff members of cid) sam s radio goes off giving them police officers. when annie, chris, ray , gene run after sam, johns shoots gene, chris , ray causing them fall floor. when sam returns 2006 shoots johns dead execute gene.

billy kemble

billy kemble (kevin knapman) arrested during episode 7 flashing genitals in public , investigated on suspected drug dealing. while in police custody, ds ray carling, assisted dc chris skelton, force kemble eat cocaine, in hope kemble reveal supplier. kemble has heart attack, , dies in police custody. dci gene hunt covers death save concerned dismissal, temporarily demotes carling detective constable, stating incident shameful , never repeated.

derek litton
