there 2 main ways of preparing hwajeon:



glutinous rice seasoned salt, pounded fine flour, , kneaded boiling water. dough made small, round, flat shape , pan-fried in sesame oil. flower petals placed , lightly pressed on dough while frying on griddle.
fine glutinous rice flour kneaded thick dough , rolled 5 mm (0.20 in) thick sheets. flower petals placed onto dough , lightly pressed, , sheets cut hwajeon-tong, utensil similar cookie cutter, 5 cm (2.0 in) diameter. flower cakes fried in sesame oil. method used in korean royal court cuisine.

fried flower cakes soaked in honey add sweetness , sprinkled cinnamon powder.
