in spring 1917 reich met sergey yesenin. young people fell in love. traveled white sea , russian north , got married in kiriko-ulitovskaya church near vologda on 4 august 1917. after wedding, couple moved oryol, parents lived.


in september 1917 couple returned saint petersburg, reich worked people s commissariat food (narkomprod). in 1918 people s commissariat moved moscow , did couple. zinaida pregnant, moved parents in oryol while yesenin continued literary career in moscow.


reich returned moscow when daughter, tatiana, 1 year old, , yesenin quarreled. in february 1920 reich gave birth son konstantin, couple continued live separately. @ time reich lived in shelter mothers infants. on 5 october 1921 zinaida reich , sergey yesenin officially divorced.


the story of couple known memoir novel without lies (1926) (Роман без вранья) written yesenin s close friend, room-mate , allegedly homosexual lover anatoly marienhof. marienhof described reich crummy jewish dame fleshy lips on face round dinner-plate . wrote yesenin allegedly upset when saw black-haired son, konstantin. no yesenin had ever been black-haired , allegedly said. reich had dark hair, genetically dominant on light hair. historians have doubted marienhof s description of reich accurate. of german-russian ancestry , russian orthodox faith.
