in 1969, separate university named texas tech university school of medicine (now texas tech university health sciences center (ttuhsc)), founded multi-campus institution lubbock administrative center , regional campuses @ amarillo, el paso, , odessa. university expanded include nursing, pharmacy, , allied health sciences programs in 1979. university has expanded include campuses in abilene, , dallas.


in 2007, angelo state university joined texas tech university system leaving texas state university system, had been member of since 1975.


on may 18, 2013, former branch campus of ttuhsc in el paso established texas tech university health sciences center @ el paso (ttuhsc el paso) separate university ttuhsc schools of medicine , nursing.
