White card Penalty card
a white card used in bandy indicate five-minute timed penalty given player. offending player must leave playing area , wait on penalty bench near centre line until penalty has expired. during 5 minute period player may not replaced, although or may replaced different player when penalty has expired. offences can warrant white card include trying hinder opponents executing free-stroke, illegal substitution or repeated illegal non-violent attacks on opponent.
in 2012 rugby union super 15 season, white card introduced incidents of suspected foul play referee unsure of identity of perpetrator, or referee unsure if red card warranted. incident later referred citing commissioner, , may result in suspension offending player. similar citation sign (arms crossed above head) in rugby league. however, in 2013 irb extended powers of tmo include reviewing suspected incidents of foul play. result, no white cards issued in 2013.
