history

Čst started life single programme, airing short amount of time each day.


like other media in communist czechoslovakia, station subject heavy censorship. however, part of process of social liberation in 1968, few days Čst aired broadcasts prague spring. however, in 1969, became part of normalisation efforts on national media.


launch of second channel

on may 10, 1970, czechoslovak television began broadcasting second channel, Čst tv2.


move colour

further technical improvements made on may 9, 1973, when first regular broadcasts in colour started on tv2, followed 2 years later colour transmission on first channel well.


at end of decade, in 1979, studio based in kavci mountains opened, became home of Čst s news department.


division of Čst tv2

after november 1989, lineup changes made, first program being renamed f1 federal district, , second program being split czech Čtv , slovak s1, first such division of channels Čst. third channel czech audiences, used soviet broadcasting launched on 14 may 1990, called ok3 (czech: otevřený kanál tři, english: open channel three). similar channel slovak audiences called ta 3 created on 6 june 1991 (broadcasting august 1991 until july 1992).


velvet revolution

during velvet revolution, Čst staff joined side of protesters , allowed them spread important messages , broadcasts of demonstrations.
