jeffrey allen townes born on january 22, 1965 in philadelphia, pennsylvania. on, developed reputation , following school , block party dj. took stage name dj jazzy jeff , 1 half of duo dj jazzy jeff & fresh prince along smith. group received first grammy award best rap performance in 1989 parents don t understand , though successful single summertime earned group second grammy , peaked @ number 4 on billboard hot 100.
