the original nation of domination formed in 1996 in united states wrestling association (uswa). group led pg-13, (a tag team consisting of j.c. ice , wolfie d). additional members included kareem olajuwon, sir mohammad, elijah, brakkus, shaquille ali, randy x, , queen moisha.

a separate group named nation of domination heel faction formed in wwf when wrestler faarooq joined manager clarence mason. 2 men accompanied 3 actors, albert armstrong, charles hines, , richard beach, names unacknowledged on screen , supposed represent other members of nation. group based loosely on nation of islam (with group members adopting islamic names , wearing muslim headgear) , black panther party. extremism of group s pro-black theme @ times including nation salute , faarooq s angry tirades on microphone garnered them excessive amount of heat fans in arenas. many wrestlers joined heel stable on time including pg-13 (j.c. ice , wolfie d), crush, d lo brown, , savio vega. first feud ahmed johnson, had rivalry faarooq since summerslam. @ royal rumble, nation assisted faarooq during match against johnson. faarooq lost disqualification after crush interfered , attacked johnson.

on june 16 episode of raw war, faarooq promised deliver bigger, badder, better , blacker version of nation, after firing crush, mason, , savio vega, retaining brown. led induction of kama mustafa , ahmed johnson group after johnson turned on wwf champion undertaker during tag team match against faarooq , kama. johnson forced out of group due legit injury. replaced rocky maivia. meanwhile, former nation members vega , crush formed own rival factions, los boricuas (made entirely of puerto rican wrestlers), , disciples of apocalypse (made entirely of biker wrestlers) respectively. led wwf style gang war .

in following months, nation feuded los boricuas , disciples of apocalypse. feud culminated in triple threat match between faarooq, vega, , crush leaders of nation, los boricuas, , doa respectively @ ground zero, vega won. restarted feud legion of doom, whom nation defeated @ badd blood: in house in 3-on-2 handicap match. part of heel turn, rocky maivia shortened , changed ring name rock. around time, ahmed johnson restarted feud nation , joined legion of doom , ken shamrock. led survivor series match @ survivor series, nation lost legion of doom, johnson, , shamrock. @ d-generation x: in house, rock got shot @ intercontinental championship against stone cold steve austin. in closing minutes of match, austin performed stone cold stunner on referee. second referee came down count pin austin, although first referee intended disqualify austin.

as result of controversy, austin forced defend title against rock next night on raw war. rock awarded intercontinental championship, however, after austin forfeited him title instead of defending title in rematch, delivering stunner on rock , took championship belt afterward. austin appeared next week on raw war, taunting rock , throwing intercontinental championship belt on bridge, river. ken shamrock, rival of nation, began feuding rock intercontinental championship. on january 12, 1998 episode of raw war, mark henry turned heel , joined nation, assaulting tag team partner, ken shamrock, in tag team match against rock , d lo brown.

leadership of rock (1998)

on march 30, 1998 episode of raw war, night after wrestlemania xiv, rock went on usurp leadership of nation faarooq, @ point group permanently dropped of domination name , militant focus. instead, rock s gimmick spread throughout faction nation members taking on considerably more hip characters, notable being kama mustafa s transformation godfather, d lo brown s bobble-head , strut, , new hip version of group s entrance theme, become associated rock s character , remixed on , on during years become current theme. nation s primary focus rock retained intercontinental title means necessary , group s motto. feuded faarooq, had been kicked out of stable. @ mayhem in manchester, rock , d lo brown lost ken shamrock , owen hart. @ unforgiven: in house, nation lost shamrock, faarooq, , steve blackman in six-man tag team match. on april 27 episode of raw war, rock , mark henry faced shamrock , hart in tag team match saw hart attacking shamrock , joining nation.
