on tuesday 11 november 2008, on approaching southampton docks last visit prior retirement, cunard liner queen elizabeth 2 ran aground on bramble bank @ approximately 0530 hrs. required 4 tugs pull clear on rising tide , arrived in southampton approximately 90 minutes late.
on 3 january 2015 car transporter mv höegh osaka beached on bank after developing list. 200-metre maritime exclusion zone put in place around ship until salvage operation took place, , airspace below 2,000 ft closed aircraft within 1 mile (1.6 km). refloated on rising tide on 7th of january 2015, , towed 2 miles east of bank , moored between east cowes , lee on solent await further salvage operations.
shortly before 10pm on 13 february 2016 368 m (1,207 ft) container ship apl vanda ran aground on bank. several tugs , crew calshot lifeboat station attended and, within couple of hours, ship refloated on rising tide.
