Gameplay Empires in Arms



leader chits each great power: napoleon, wellington, charles, kutusov, pechlivan khan, castaños, , brunswick. numbers represent strategic rating (ability outflank/withdraw), (head-to-head) tactical rating, , number of corps can manage. letter indicates order of precedence among fellow leaders.


each power has unique mix of economic , military power. additionally properties of available forces , generals vary widely. although great britain s regular infantry have high morale, france in general possesses largest , highest-quality military.


the full game lasts 132 turns, 1 turn each month, playing time can 200–250 hours or more. each month split 4 (sometimes 5) phases:



the diplomatic phase players negotiate deals, forge alliances etc.
the reinforcement phase each player in sequence adds purchased reinforcements.
the naval phase each player conducts naval moves in sequence.
the land phase each player moves , fights armies in sequence.
an economic phase every 3 months, players collect resources, purchase reinforcements, , earn victory points.

winning game done through earning victory points. these scored in economic phase , based on each nation s political status. political status of nation influenced number of factors, winning or losing wars , battles. battles won combination of generals available, quality of troops in armies , battlefield strategy selected prior battle. troops divided elite guards, cavalry, infantry, artillery, militia , feudal troops.

the troops have different abilities differ in morale. battles won reducing opponents morale 0 rather destroying factors in army. few exceptions, wars can won through surrender , appropriate time , conditions of surrender 1 of key elements of game.
