mnm formed in former world wrestling entertainment (wwe) farm territory ohio valley wrestling (ovw). melina perez, johnny nitro s real-life girlfriend, introduced company in 2004 ex-girlfriend, ally of matt cappotelli whom nitro engaged in scripted rivalry. immediately, however, perez betrayed cappotelli , sided nitro. introduced joey matthews become mnm. while in ovw, nitro , matthews won ovw southern tag team championship once, holding on 2 months.

tag team championship reigns (2005–2006)

mnm called wwe s smackdown! roster in april 2005, matthews undergoing name change joey mercury . made debut during carlito s interview segment carlito s cabana, interrupted interview between carlito , rey mysterio, , attacked mysterio. provoked feud between mnm , mysterio , partner, eddie guerrero, on wwe tag team championship. 2 weeks later, in debut match on smackdown! brand, defeated mysterio , guerrero win wwe tag team championship after guerrero refused tag match. while nitro , mercury held championship, melina placed in angle heidenreich. publicly mocked him , impetus attack on him nitro , mercury. in july, mnm scheduled face heidenreich in two-on-one handicap match, attacked him before match started. road warrior animal saved heidenreich attack , result, heidenreich , road warrior animal challenged mercury , nitro tag team title @ great american bash. mnm lost match , championship.

the loss of tag team championship seen bad publicity melina introduced jillian hall, storyline spin doctor repair image. hall got them cover article in smackdown! magazine, , began introduce team before , aid them during matches. in september 2005, hall left group join john bradshaw layfield (jbl), had lost match rey mysterio.

on october 28 episode of smackdown!, mercury , nitro placed tag team title fatal four-way match against teams of mexicools (super crazy , psicosis), william regal , paul burchall, , wwe tag team champions legion of doom 2005 (heidenreich , road warrior animal). during match, mercury , nitro able perform snapshot on heidenreich, win championship second time. mnm defended championship against eddie guerrero , batista. in december, began feud mexicools, earned right face mnm @ armageddon wwe tag team championship. before armageddon however, on december 16 episode of smackdown!, mnm lost tag team championship batista , rey mysterio. storyline begun before match, melina attempted seduce batista forfeiting match. storyline played on next episode of smackdown! when, before mnm invoked rematch clause, melina held press conference in ring claimed batista had sexually harassed her. during tag team match, mark henry aided mnm in winning wwe tag team championship. following week, mnm defeated batista , mysterio in steel cage match retain championship, henry s aid. henry group short time before contract sold daivari in storyline. went on defend championship against mexicools , team of matt hardy , tatanka in 2006.

dissolution (2006–2007)

in april 2006, mnm placed in angle in found in losing streak against team of paul london , brian kendrick. in non-title tag team matches, singles matches, , six-man tag match, london , kendrick defeated duo every time. @ judgment day pay-per-view in may 2006, mnm lost tag team championship london , kendrick. after match, nitro , mercury started brawling, disbanding group. later night, melina lost singles match against jillian hall , after slapping general manager theodore long in anger, , nitro fired smackdown! brand in storyline. off-screen, nitro , mercury did not along, , wwe management decided split tag team , send nitro , melina raw brand. in addition, mercury begin serving suspension violating wwe wellness program.

after team split, nitro, alongside melina, placed intercontinental championship picture, winning title twice. in november, after serving suspension , brief stint in ovw, mercury returned wwe, reuniting mnm answer open challenge put out hardys (matt , jeff) december dismember pay-per-view. @ event, mnm lost hardys. mnm , hardys met again @ armageddon part of four-way ladder match, included teams of dave taylor , william regal , paul london , brian kendrick. during match, saw london , kendrick retain wwe tag team championship, mercury legitimately injured when struck in face ladder, necessitating trip emergency room broken nose received 15 stitches. facial injury worked angle, , when mercury returned wearing protective covering on face, rivalry between teams intensified mnm actively seeking injure 1 or both of hardys, going far attack , perform snapshot on matt on exposed concrete following match. mnm lost hardys @ royal rumble, , again @ no way out pay-per-view in february, concluded feud.

post-breakup

after feud hardys over, nitro , melina continued team on raw, while mercury wrestled in singles competition on smackdown!. on march 26, 2007, through wwe s official website, announced mercury had been released contract.

melina , nitro s association began fizzle out when melina became wwe women s champion , began garnering attention singles performer. melina released contract in 2011.

during 2007 supplemental draft, nitro moved ecw brand, renamed john morrison , go on capture ecw world championship. morrison formed partnership miz, capturing both wwe tag team championship , world tag team championship, becoming two-time slammy award winner. gained third wwe intercontinental championship shortly after alliance miz, before leaving wwe in 2011.

mercury returned wwe in 2010, first member of cm punk s straight edge society, , later began working trainer in florida championship wrestling (later renamed wwe nxt). appeared on television alongside authority , part of j&j security, former wwe world heavyweight champion seth rollins s personal security .

nitro , melina had brief reunion when melina made appearance in lucha underground @ ultima lucha, attacking alberto el patron during match nitro, known johnny mundo, allowing nitro pick win.

on september 22, 2017, nitro, under john morrison ring name, , mercury reunited first time in ten years @ pro wrestling event, defeating reno scum.
