joining esa

the first agreement between romania , european space agency (esa) signed in 1992, followed in 1999 romania-esa agreement on cooperation in peaceful exploration , use of space. since 2007, romania contributes esa budget european cooperating state (pecs), status ratified law no. 1/2007.


on december 22, 2011, romania became 19th member of european space agency.


an important step in accession process conduct technical audit on relevant entities in romania (institutes, research centers, industrial companies , smes), have space technological capabilities. audit conducted esa, based on sample of 130 entities, 50 of them being organized technical visits , interviews.


the full member state of european space agency status gives organizations in romania access, in same way esa countries, programs run, , important technology transfer , opening of high-tech market. also, intellectual property maintained @ national level, having important role in establishment of competence in country.
