since year 2000, greek immigration australia has slowed down. however, in years 2000–2009, many greek-australians both native greek , australian-born, returned greece discover homeland , reconnect ancestral roots. yet, economic crisis in greece grew, opportunities temporary resident greek australians abroad limited. reason many greek australians have shortened planned long term stays in greece , have returned home australia.


in 2010s there has been increase of greek immigration flows australia due unemployment, among other issues, because of economic crisis in greece. has led return of many greek australians had gone greece before crisis , arrival of newcomers greece, have been received large greek australian community in melbourne.
