dharamshala has monsoon-influenced, humid subtropical climate (cwa). summer starts in april, peaks in june when temperatures can reach 36 °c (97 °f), , lasts till mid-june. july mid-september monsoon season, when 3,000 mm (120 inches) of rainfall can experienced, making dharamshala 1 of wettest places in state. autumn mild , lasts october end of november.


autumn temperatures average around 16–17 °c (61–63 °f). winter starts in december , continues until late february. snow , sleet common during winter in upper dharamshala (including mcleodganj, bhagsu nag , naddi). lower dharamshala receives little frozen precipitation except hail. snowfall of 7 january 2012 heaviest recorded in recent times. caused deep low pressure entering kangra district. winter followed short, pleasant spring until april. historically, dhauladhar mountains used remain snow-covered year long; however, in recent years have been losing snow blanket during dry spells.
