debian 4.0 etch (2007)


the 3.1 sarge release made in june 2005. release updated 73% of software , included on 9,000 new packages. new installer modular design, debian-installer, allowed installations raid, xfs , lvm support, improved hardware detection, made installations easier novice users, , translated forty languages. installation manual , release notes in ten , fifteen languages respectively. efforts of skolelinux, debian-med , debian-accessibility raised number of packages educational, had medical affiliation, , ones made people disabilities.

throughout debian s lifetime, both debian distribution , website have won various awards different organizations, including server distribution of year 2011, best linux distro of 2011, , best of net award october 1998.


on december 2, 2015, microsoft announced offer debian gnu/linux endorsed distribution on azure cloud platform.
