the spirit of saginaw band founded in 2005. began first marching season 80 members , participated @ plano east marching festival, earning division ii @ uil region. in 2006 band grew 130 members , participated in bands of america, plano east marching festival , earned division @ uil region. in 2007 band had 160 members , won first marching competition of year, golden triangle marching classic, , received second top-three placement. color guard , percussion participated in crowley guard & drumline competition. guard placed 1st, best weapon line , best color guard. percussion placed second. tied first (with azle marching band) in uil area marching competition , received 14th place @ uil state marching championships in san antonio. in 2008 band placed 2nd @ aledo unleash sound competition (eventually winning contest in later years), received division @ uil region , placed 3rd @ ussba state championships, including 1st place color guard , 1st place percussion. guard & percussion participated again @ crowley, guard placed 2nd, 3rd overall , percussion won caption best snare line. percussion attended pasic (percussive arts society international convention) november 5–8 , placed 6th out of 10 bands in division. saginaw band received uil sweepstakes award 5 years in row, beginning in 2008. concert bands under direction of matt pearson , alyson holley. percussion director jason jerger. colorguard/winterguard directors molly owen , art grossman. visual director jonathon paredez.

2006–2007 drum majors sophomore brad baker , juniors maegan davis , jordan yamada. 2006 show descent madness, based loosely around plot of stanley kubrick film shining.

2007–2008 drum majors juniors brad baker , brittany harris , seniors maegan davis , jordan yamada. show year, purple heart, tribute soldiers fought , died in world war ii. featured music mel gibson film soldiers

2008–2009 drum majors seniors brad baker , brittany harris , junior mckenna johnson , courtnee morton. 2008 program lost, based on television series j. j. abrams of same name, featuring music of michael giacchino

2009–2010 drum majors seniors mckenna johnson, courtnee morton , lauren daughhetee , juniors morgan mitchell , samantha le. 2009 program romeo & juliet, included 4 movements.

2010–2011 drum majors seniors samantha le , morgan mitchell, , juniors lauren robertson , phil esmaili. band consisted of on 270 members season. marching program titled nosferatu: symphony of terror, including pieces copeland s ballet grohg, music arrangements timothy j. gorgas.

2011-2012 drum majors seniors lauren robertson , phil esmaili , juniors alexis brandt , sarah vowell. marching program titled rise up, featuring music johan de meij s symphony no. 1, lord of rings.

2012–2013 drum majors seniors sarah vowell, karla melendez , alexis brandt, , junior steffani vera. marching program titled arctic circle , featured music coldplay , jean sibelius, arranged timothy gorgas. program included 4 movements northern quest , arctic blizzard , aurora borealis , perpetual twilight .

in 2015 gabby salinas named 5-a texas all-state band, first chair.

saginaw high school theater

the saginaw high school theater directed trista tredaway, has 16 years of directing experience, , formerly assistant director of saginaw theatre program until 2012. tredaway had directed several community , student theatres in south texas area before moving fort worth, , has worked independently prepare actors traveling venues such in new york , los angeles. has more 25 former students successful in own theatre careers.

the program formerly led jeffrey smith school s opening until 2010. assistant principal @ saginaw high school. program led david kersh until 2012.

starsteppers dance team

the award-winning starsteppers dance team perform @ shs varsity football games, pep rallies, basketball games, community events, competitions , camps.

cheerleader controversy

the fort-worth star telegram reported on april 8, 2010 group of cheerleaders school disciplined after spiking teammates soda cans urine. incident happened during previous winter when @ least 1 of cheerleaders urinated cup , mixed contents soda bought @ nearby restaurant. @ least 2 girls given in-school suspensions , others received lesser punishments, according star-telegram. girls barred cheerleading events rest of school year, allowed return following year.
