the 4 armed contractors, scott helvenston, jerko zovko, wesley batalona , michael teague, killed machine gun fire , grenade thrown through window of suvs. mob set bodies ablaze, , corpses dragged through streets before being hung on bridge crossing euphrates. insurgents provided images news agencies broadcast worldwide, causing great deal of indignation , moral outrage in united states. announcement of upcoming pacification of city promptly followed.


the intended marine corps strategy of foot patrols, less aggressive raids, humanitarian aid, , close cooperation local leaders suspended on orders mount military operation clear guerrillas fallujah.
