first round

the first round held on may 29, 2005 in beirut. rafik hariri martyr list, coalition of saad hariri s current future, progressive socialist party , other anti-syrian parties, won 19 seats. saad hariri son of former lebanese prime minister rafik hariri assassinated in february 2005, in car bombing in beirut. coalition left 1 seat free shiite candidate hezbollah.


second round

the second round held on june 5 in south lebanon , nabatyeh governorate. resistance , development bloc, joint ticket 2 main shiite parties amal , hezbollah, in addition bahiya al-hariri, sister of assassinated late prime minister rafic al-hariri , oussama saad sidon, won 23 seats. official tallies showed resistance , development bloc receiving more 80% of vote.


third round

the third round held on june 12 in beqaa , mount lebanon. in mount lebanon hariri list won 17 seats, did aoun alliance, made of michel aoun s free patriotic movement , 2 smaller parties; hezbollah won one. in beqaa, resistance , development bloc won 11 seats, hariri list eight, , aoun alliance four. aoun re-stamped authority major christian leader on political scene.


fourth round

the fourth , final round held on june 20 in north governorate. hariri list won 28 seats, giving them total of 72 of national assembly s 128 seats.
