the old lagan navigational canal (disused) @ broadwater, near aghalee. (the disused canal not part of river lagan, part of lagan river part of canal, giving old canal name.)


in late 19th century lagan navigation built lough neagh belfast, using of river navigable waterway , diverting water other areas supply separate canal sections. however, mid-20th century route had fallen disuse , largely derelict. m1 motorway (northern ireland) built across route. currently, section of navigation s towpath running lisburn centre of belfast has been restored.
