in 1994, while living in nashville, tennessee, nichols met mason cooper , created band, eighteen, performing rock music jewish themes , hebrew prayers. prior eighteen, nichols member of band olskies. nichols worked cantorial soloist @ congregation micah in brentwood, tennessee, , has background in opera. nichols performs @ synagogues, hillels, jewish community centers , jewish youth camps nationwide. work has been recognized union reform judaism , north american federation of temple youth have featured him artist @ biennials , conventions, , included music on ruach compilation albums , songbooks. since 2001, nichols has been faculty member of annual songleading conference, hava nashira in oconomowoc, wisconsin. in 2006, nfty awarded nichols highest honor, lifetime membership, in recognition of years of commitment , outstanding contribution reform jewish youth. in 2008, nichols , eighteen performed live concert sirius xm s radio hanukkah jewish stars concert series, , concert @ masada israel s 60th anniversary. dan nichols has been rodef sholom s artist in residence since 2008.
