the choir school continues , although all-male, admits girls; cathedral girls choir founded in 2000 , sings once or twice week. girls drawn either choir school or st patrick s grammar school, provides secondary education. no longer compulsory grammar school pupils in choirs, although many of girls are, , few boys; many of boys leave when voice breaks. choirboys considered professional singers , paid monthly services. girls not. choir sings @ weddings , receive payment this. until 1998 received large discount on education; still offered free music lessons. while non-choirboy students had 2 months holidays during summer, half of boys on duty every day during summer , had attend choir practice , 2 services each weekday, 1 service on saturday , 2 on sunday. arrangement changed in 1998.
