the church of england parish church of saint mary virgin in east adderbury. st mary s 1 of largest parish churches in oxfordshire , architecturally 1 of important. nicknamed cathedral of feldon.
st mary s building retains evidence of 13th century origins enlarged in 14th century , again in perpendicular style in 15th century.
by 1611, st mary s had clock, there records of repairs in 1617, 1621, 1626 , 1631. in 1684 replaced new clock, periodic repairs served parish until late in 19th century. has since been replaced new clock built john smith , sons of derby, , little has been preserved of 1684 clock except 1 shaft motion , remains of 1 hand.
in 18th century, st mary s fell disrepair. in 19th century restoration carried out in phases: sensitively architect j.c. buckler between 1831 , 1834 , architect sir george gilbert scott between 1866 , 1870, , less sensitively sir george s son john oldrid scott in 1886.
st mary s had ring of 6 bells until 1789, when john briant of hertford took them down , re-cast them ring of eight. third bell recast again in 1863, time george mears , company of whitechapel bell foundry. sixth bell recast again in 1927, time john taylor & co of loughborough. st mary s has sanctus bell cast matthew bagley of chacombe, northamptonshire in 1681.

the roman catholic saint george s chapel in round close road in west adderbury built in 1956.

society of friends
former friends meeting house
the former west adderbury friends meeting house built in 1675 bray doyley. before act of toleration 1689 legalised quaker worship in england, doyley sentenced 8 years imprisonment having had built. quaker meetings ceased in 20th century , meeting house leased parish council, maintain building had adjoining women s meeting house demolished in 1955. today, meeting house used 4 special friends meetings per year, allowed parish council s lease.
the meeting house used waiting room parish council s adjoining cemetery. meeting house retains 18th century benches, elders stand , gallery, , grade ii* listed building. next walls of quaker burial ground, 17th-century.

former independent chapel in cross hill road
a former independent chapel, self-governing , owing no allegiance outside denominations built in 1820 in cross hill road in west adderbury. main door widened when chapel converted industrial use.
