History Humboldt County, Iowa



humboldt county divided 12 townships.


humboldt county established in 1851 smallest county in iowa. named after alexander von humboldt. on july 1, 1855, county lines newly established, adding land kossuth county , webster county. on february 26, 1857, old borders reestablished, , webster county not return land, leaving humboldt county twelve townships. in 1872, humboldt college opened , closed in 1916 because there no agreement county taxation.
