history
2013

after business , racing career in venezuela enzo potolicchio emigrated usa in 2011. founded 8 star motorsports in november 2012. 8 star motorsports raced full-time in 2013 imsa prototype lites season. team fielded several venezuelan drivers. seventeen-year-old christian potolicchio scored best results. son of team principal scored 1 podium finish , ended sixth in final standings. team made debut in pc class of american le mans series @ 2013 petit le mans. sean rayhall , oswaldo negri finished oreca flm09 second in class.


the team raced in lmgte class of 2013 fia world endurance championship. team principal enzo potolicchio , rui aguas raced rounds of championship supported various drivers. ferrari 458 italia won class @ 2013 6 hours of spa-francorchamps , 2013 6 hours of shanghai. @ 2013 24 hours of le mans team finished second in class. team led several laps , finished tenth.


2014

for 2014 team joined newly formed united sportscar championship in pc class. sean rayhall, graduating imsa lites, joined team full-time. team fielded 2 cars @ 2014 24 hours of daytona. car driven enzo potolicchio, tom kimber-smith , michael marsal finished tenth overall, second in class.


rayhall , luis diaz scored team s first win in united sportscar championship @ virginia international raceway , repeated 1 race later @ circuit of americas. 8star finished 2nd in pc teams championship.


2015

for 2015 8 star motorsports joined indy lights ranks. scott hargrove joined team during pre-season testing , in first 2 rounds during grand prix of st. petersburg. canadian scored fourth , sixth place in both races. sean rayhall took on racing seat hargrove. rayhall raced partial season. american won 2 races, @ grand prix of indianapolis , mid-ohio. @ end of season 8 star motorsports sold indy lights assets team pelfrey.


in imsa lites championship 8 start motorsports solely competed @ sebring international raceway. christian potolocchio retired both races.
