Ego Id, ego and super-ego



ego not sharply separated id; lower portion merges it.... repressed merges id well, , merely part of it. repressed cut off sharply ego resistances of repression; can communicate ego through id. (sigmund freud, 1923)


in diagram of structural , topographical models of mind, ego depicted half in consciousness, while quarter in preconscious , other quarter lies in unconscious. in modern english, ego has many meanings. mean one’s self-esteem; inflated sense of self-worth; conscious-thinking self; or in philosophical terms, one’s self. ego development known development of multiple processes, cognitive function, defenses, , interpersonal skills or adolescence when ego processes emerged.
