the dark matter returns once more in kirby 64: crystal shards, invade ripple star crystal. when crystal shattered, kirby sets out reassemble pieces on 5 other planets before confronting dark matter creature called miracle matter (ミラクルマター, mirakuru matā). defeat repels dark matter ripple star, crystal detects , expels powerful presence of dark matter fairy queen, goes on form new planet. in core of last world 0² (zero 2 (ゼロツー, 0 tsū)), presumably reincarnated version of 0 after being defeated in kirby s dream land 3. angelic-looking form of 0 halo, geometric, segmented wings, , green spiked tail.


in kirby: squeak squad, dark matter known dark nebula (dark 0 (ダークゼロ, dāku zero)), prisoner of treasure chest in king dedede s possession. meta knight realizes inside treasure chest , steals prevent release. kirby, thinking cake inside, chases him ruins of halberd under secret sea. aboard operational halberd, leader of squeaks, daroach, manages open chest , releases him. however, dark nebula takes on body , escapes gamble galaxy. kirby fights daroach again , dark nebula forced out. daroach relinquishes triple star, mystical rod. help, dark nebula banished.
