between 1998 , 2002 pirotte settled near carcassonne, created literary prize named after wines of adopted region, prix littéraire cabardès . further tribute locality became director of literary series entitled lettres du cabardès produced publishing house le temps qu il fait.


during later years pirotte lived translator , fellow author sylvie doizelet in french jura, till 2009 @ arbois, , subsequently across frontier, @ beurnevésin. in interview given in 2011 stated still rented loft on belgian coast. time jean-claude pirotte cursed cancer, died in summer of 2014.
